The advent and evolution of the internet has invited the growth of various unwarranted threats and unforeseen attacks. Network security has become a vital component for government institutions, organizations, and public and private companies in order to protect themselves and their customers from data theft, and is a cause of significant concern. Most businesses use firewalls and encryption algorithms to secure themselves from external attacks and create their own private network called as the intranet, which enables employees to connect to the World Wide Web without being exposed to various vulnerabilities. In case organizations need to expose their services to the external network, an additional protective network called as DMZ (demilitarized zone) is created in order to provide the isolation between their private network and the external untrusted network.
