After graduating from university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, I was unsure as to what the focus of my IT career should be. Eventually, I landed a job with a technology firm that managed the IT infrastructure for several companies. Having to work with these companies on a daily basis, I quickly saw the importance of a strong IT security framework. As such, I decided to pursue further studies in the field, opting to do a Master’s degree in Information Systems Security, followed by various industry credentials.
From my research, I saw that EC-Council programs were highly regarded and frequently sought after in the cybersecurity industry. Its Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (C|HFI) and Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) courses promised exactly the type of training that I desired. The courseware and training were very helpful in preparing for the C|HFI and C|EH exams, as well as a hands-on career in IT security. The methodologies laid out, particularly with regards to the preservation of data and planning and preparation, are concepts that I will use frequently.
I encourage every cybersecurity aspirant to start by getting some experience in the industry. Get a feel for what you like, then choose the type of training that best suits your goals.
