Technology always intrigues me. I have been in IT for almost half of my life, nearly two decades, but in the past few years, I hyper-focused on cybersecurity. This began after I acknowledged the dependence and importance of the underlying security infrastructure of the proliferating Internet. As a former firefighter in the United States Air Force, we helped people using powerful tools. That same drive translated into assisting the internet community with the power of cybersecurity. I started educating myself on the tools, techniques, and tactics to combat the dark side of this digital era.
Throughout my Information Technology career, I have had the opportunity to witness the enormous power of technology and its devastating drawbacks. I wanted to learn the ways to put it to good use. That’s what attracted me to the industry. I am grateful that I got a chance to learn from the experts of the industry. All of this, coupled with my company’s guidance and mentoring, helped me fill in my knowledge gaps.
I adore curated knowledge as I believe it can serve my personal interests and further my career. The Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) was perfectly designed to fit my needs and allowed me to balance my personal and professional time. Earning a credential from a reputable organization like EC-Council holds a level of clout. It validated my drive and dedication to supporting the CyberSec community. Its content was refreshing and possessed current as well as traditional knowledge. The training material was formatted in an easily digestible manner both in content and imagery. The format made the content manageable and easy to absorb. Since then, it has been my go-to reference library. Both EC-Council credentials are pertinent to the position I hold. The majority of the tools, techniques, and tactics covered in training are the ones that I use almost every day.
There are a few major key features of C|EH, which are –
- It has ANSI accreditation.
- DoD recognizes it as one of the baseline programs for getting into their Information Assurance (IA) workforce.
- The content is mapped to NICE 2.0 framework.
- The widespread credibility of EC-Council validates your technical skills.
- It offers hands-on experience.
- It has virtual labs with a real-time environment.
- You will get amazing online and offline training content.
To all the beginners – I would suggest you explore and understand the bigger picture – cybersecurity as an industry, first. Then reach out to the cybersecurity experts. There are so many brilliant and insightful people at all levels, willing and wanting to share their knowledge. And NEVER STOP LEARNING. Organizations like EC-Council are a great way to kickstart your career or push your limits to achieve more.
