In my 25 years career as System Administrator, I have been involved in security issues. The first was in 2001 as I was in charge of an FTP server that was hacked. Since that day, I always take care of my system’s security. In my opinion, information security must be one of the mandatory layers in an IT infrastructure, just like the system, network, and backup. Initially, when I was curious to learn what techniques cybercriminals use to penetrate systems, how they could do to harm data, and what should be the countermeasures to prevent such attacks, I went ahead with the Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH). The program is one of its kind.
Especially, the EC-Council courseware; it was brilliantly designed. I have learned more than I expected. It was vast, containing numerous real-life examples, techniques, and I think I will hold on to it for years. Also, as I’m a Linux sysadmin, my favorite tool is the Kali Linux distribution, which contains tons of useful tools for improving a server’s and workstation’s security. I’m even often using Kali Linux to improve my Raspberry Pi’s security! And I learned all of this with the all-rounder C|EH program.
