I was working in a different sector. But after I got the chance to enroll at an Oxford University’s IT program, I decided to pursue an IT career. I researched a lot and found out that cybersecurity is the only industry that I want to continue as there is a huge skill gap.
My IT journey started at Oxford in 2017. After I graduated, I enrolled in a cybersecurity certification course and learned the basics. Then I researched the best certification courses and figured out that EC-Council is the best and well-known in the market. I did not have a cybersecurity job, yet I started learning Network and Ethical Hacking. I registered for EC-Council’s Certified Network Defender (CND) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). I went through their training material and courseware, and they were fantastic! I was able to obtain two EC-Council certifications in 4 months – CND and then CEH.
As a newbie, it was challenging, but I learned a lot. The real-time labs covered so many tools. Even the CyberQ was very helpful. I am definitely going to use my learnings like the Enumeration module in my day-to-day life.
My advice to all those interested in cybersecurity “practice is the most important thing.”
