I had always been interested in computer technology and when I started attending College of Southern Maryland, I decided to take on a cybersecurity program, that is where my passion took off – haven’t looked back since. I strongly believe that I was able to establish myself as a ‘Cybersecurity Engineer’ because of my hard work, dedication, sacrifice, and perseverance. I always found EC-Council’s Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) fascinating, and that’s why obtaining the globally-recognized C|EH credential interested me. My primary inspiration for taking up C|EH was that I have always heard about EC-Council and their prestige. My company set me up on a VAPT (Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing) track, which included C|EH, EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA), and Licensed Penetration Tester (L|PT) Master.
The entire experience was exceptional, and I learned a lot! The courseware was very informative and showed me a lot of things that I didn’t know when it comes to offensive security. This training helped me to grow familiarity with Kali Linux, which was a great experience.
My advice to people getting into cybersecurity as a career is not to be discouraged or overwhelmed when you come across things that you don’t pick up right away. Learning in this field is more about patience and hard work. If you can stay dedicated, you will be rewarded.
