Before joining cybersecurity, I worked as a web application developer with scripting in R and Python. Eventually, I ended up in the application security domain. Hands-on experience and a strong grasp on elementary concepts helped me to understand cybersecurity-related issues. I was familiar with the Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) from quite a while. I had basic theoretical knowledge but no hands-on experience, the one which is required in development and production environments. That’s why I opted for C|EH – for its practical and hands-on approach. It offered a fantastic coverage of the domain. Because of C|EH, I learned to use Burp Suite, Fiddler, Wireshark, Metasploit, Nmap, and Kali Linux (OS).
For all the beginners of the industry, keep your basics clear, and don’t stop learning. Also, ensure that you get the hands-on experience of everything you learn.
